Air Fryer 'Boiled' Eggs (Soft, Medium, Hard)
Making 'boiled' eggs in an air fryer is a surprisingly simple and mess-free method to achieve perfectly cooked eggs, from jammy soft to fully hard-boiled, without needing a pot of water. The dry heat helps the shells peel away with remarkable ease, making them ideal for meal prep, snacks, salads, or deviled eggs.
Ingredients
- 1Large EggsAs many large eggs as you want to cook (straight from the fridge is fine)
- 2IcePlenty of ice cubes
- 3Cold WaterCold water for an ice bath
Instructions

1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 120°C (250°F). While some air fryers can go lower, this temperature consistently works well. If your air fryer doesn't go below 150°C (300°F), that's okay, you'll just need to adjust the cooking time slightly (reduce by a few minutes).

2. Place Eggs in Air Fryer: Gently place the cold eggs directly into the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; ensure there is space for air to circulate around each egg.
- 3
3. Air Fry the Eggs: Cook the eggs for the following times, depending on your desired yolk consistency. Keep in mind that air fryer models can vary, so you might need to adjust times by a minute or two for your specific appliance:
- 4
- For Soft/Jammy Yolks (runny center, slightly set edges): 10-12 minutes at 120°C (250°F).
- 5
- For Medium Yolks (firm but moist center, no green ring): 14-15 minutes at 120°C (250°F).
- 6
- For Hard-Boiled Yolks (fully firm, cooked through): 16-18 minutes at 120°C (250°F).
- 7
4. Prepare Ice Bath: While the eggs are cooking, fill a medium bowl with ice cubes and cold water. This ice bath is crucial for stopping the cooking process immediately and for easier peeling.
- 8
5. Cool and Peel: As soon as the air fryer timer goes off, carefully remove the hot eggs from the basket using tongs and immediately plunge them into the ice bath. Let them cool in the ice bath for at least 5-10 minutes (longer for hard-boiled eggs, up to 15 minutes), or until they are completely cool to the touch.

6. Peel and Serve: Once cooled, gently tap the egg on a hard surface and roll it to crack the shell all over. The shell should peel off easily, often in larger pieces, thanks to the air frying method. Rinse under cold water if needed to remove any small shell fragments.

Use your perfectly cooked air fryer eggs for snacks, egg salad, deviled eggs, or as a topping for salads and toast. Store unpeeled eggs in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
